SpineDAO Ecosystem Report: April 2025

Collective efforts towards building the Spine Club.
April was a defining month for us at SpineDAO. As one of the first BioDAOs to launch on the Solana blockchain, we’ve set a new standard for decentralized biomedical research communities. Our auction launched successfully and has already raised over $200,000, supported by rapid community response and recognition across the DeSci space. Alongside this financial milestone, our product and research initiatives have shown tangible progress, from the second development phase of the Smart Patient Filter System to new features added to the Spine Archive.
Fundraising progress on Solana

SpineDAO’s public auction went live this month via the BIO Launchpad on Solana. This marked a major milestone not only for our DAO, but also for the broader BioDAO ecosystem, as we became one of the first decentralized biomedical collectives to launch on the Solana blockchain.
Our auction generated significant interest from both technical and medical communities, raising over $200,000 to date. Remarkably, our curation round filled in less than six hours, reflecting deep confidence in the SpineDAO vision and team.
The auction is still open at the time of this report, and you can still participate here: https://app.bio.xyz/launchpad/SpineDAO
Filter and Spine Projects Enter Phase 2
The Smart Patient Filter System, one of our core health infrastructure projects, has progressed to the second phase of development. This system is designed to offer intelligent filtering and prioritization of patient records, ensuring more personalized and actionable spine care.
This phase focuses on refining our surgeon’s flow of the platform with growing emphasis on community input and clinical feedback.
Our second product, the Spine Archive, continues to evolve. Chronos, a latest prototype that provides interactive guidance to both patients and researchers navigating spine-related materials, is in the works.
These developments bring us closer to realizing the vision of an open, AI-powered archive for global spine knowledge.
Launch of the Agentic Challenge

We officially announced the Agentic Challenge, an open call for AI and DeSci builders to develop spine-health-related agents. This initiative is aligned with our commitment to enabling autonomous, decentralized science, specifically around the use of intelligent agents in healthcare delivery, diagnosis, and data management.
The challenge offers technical exposure, and a path to DAO-backed adoption for standout participants. Submissions for Phase 1 are now open, with early interest already coming in from DeSci developers and research communities.
Spindianajones: Preserving Spine History
In line with our mission to decentralize and preserve knowledge, we launched the Spindianajones project — an initiative to digitize and annotate therapeutic manuscripts in spinal medicine.
We believe the future of science must not only look forward, but also digitize and learn from the past. This project will be supported by partnerships with academic institutions and contributors across disciplines.

Events and Global Outreach
DeSci Dubai Presentation
SpineDAO was proudly represented by Vincent Challaire at DeSci Dubai. Vincent delivered a keynote presentation outlining our roadmap and also participated in a panel session focused on “DeSci + Patients.” His contribution helped solidify SpineDAO's leading role in the fusion of decentralized infrastructure and patient-centric healthcare.
Visit to the French Academy of Surgery
At SpineDAO, we recently had the privilege of visiting the French Academy of Surgery in Paris. During the visit, we discovered the Myologie by D’Agotti — a remarkable color-printed anatomical illustration from 1742, produced with the most advanced techniques of the 18th century. We were warmly received by General Surgeon Guillaume Pourcher, who gave us a tour of the historic Saint-Côme amphitheaters, some of the earliest centers of surgical learning in France. This visit marks the beginning of a deeper collaboration. As part of our Spine Archives Project, we’ll be translating and preserving rare French spine manuscripts to ensure their accessibility for future generations. We’re also excited to continue our partnership with the Academy through the SpindianaJones Project, a shared initiative to uncover and digitize forgotten surgical knowledge from the past.
Community Engagement
In this episode of DeSci Pilled, we at SpineDAO had the pleasure of sitting down with Ryan Bethencourt to share our journey and vision for transforming spine care through AI, blockchain, and decentralized science. Our co-founders, Virginia (biomechanics expert) and Vincent (spine surgeon), dove into how we're using AI to screen surgical candidates, predict outcomes, and process thousands of medical publications daily work that no human could handle alone. We also introduced Spine Archive, our AI-powered, open-access journal that replaces outdated PDFs with interactive, real-time, machine-readable research. From predictive models and digital twins to patient data ownership through blockchain, we explore how we're building the infrastructure for a more personalized, equitable, and intelligent healthcare system. If you're passionate about the future of spine care and decentralized science, this episode is a must-listen.
